What’s the opportunity?

This is your chance to come and work for a high-growth B2B SaaS company based in the US, Denmark, and Spain. Plytix is backed by Tier 1 investors, such as Tiger, and is already a global industry leader within PIM—one of the fastest-growing verticals in the retail industry. 


We are kick-starting our enhanced thought leadership project and are looking for a competent journalist to spearhead our research efforts. 


In this position, you’ll be given the opportunity to harness your journalistic instincts and storytelling skills to craft impactful news stories for the tech and ecommerce sectors. You’ll create both written and broadcast news content for our digital platforms weekly, engaging with experts and conducting thorough research to ensure each piece is insightful and relevant. You’ll be in charge of developing and localizing content, pitching ideas, and producing stories that resonate with our audience.


What will you be doing?

In this position, you will utilize your investigative journalistic skills to gather research that can turn into novel thought leadership content across multiple media channels. In the process, you will conduct market research to identify the most relevant news and fact-check information. You will conduct online surveys, interview industry experts, etc. in order to create new and meaningful content.


Your journey with us promises hands-on experience in the realms of news localization, digital content production, and market research. Here are some examples of what you’ll be doing:

Cover ecommerce and tech news, and localize it according to our audience

Create the right narratives for content pieces and turn them into briefs for our content team so they can produce content at scale.

Editorially review and approve content before publication.

Interview industry experts

Conduct surveys and analyze data.


After 1 month:

You’ll start with a crash course in all things related to Plytix by learning how our software works and earning your Product Information Management Certificate. By the end of your first month, you’ll understand our user journey and what companies come to us for. You will have completed your tour of duty in Customer Success, Sales, Product, and Marketing and be ready to dive right in.


After 3 months:

You’re now fully integrated into our digital content team and are actively contributing to our tech and ecommerce coverage. You have identified opportunities to enrich our content and implemented adjustments to our news strategy, such as focusing more on emerging industry trends and tailoring stories to our audience's interests. You’ll also have initiated content experiments, like exploring new formats or topics, and observed promising engagement patterns from your work.


Additionally, you’ll be developing a targeted editorial calendar that aligns with our company's goals, integrating innovative ideas to enhance our storytelling. As you refine your approach, you’ll be preparing to present your insights and proposals to our CEO and Video Team, ready to drive our digital news direction forward strategically.


6 months in:

As the lead of our industry digital news project, you are confidently navigating and shaping our content landscape. You have been consistently crafting compelling news stories and in-depth reports that highlight emerging trends and key developments in tech and ecommerce.


You’re now identifying new angles and untapped topics within the industry, planning to dive deeper with exclusive content and primary sources. This includes preparing to conduct interviews with industry experts, tech innovators, and influential figures in the ecommerce sphere to gather unique insights for your upcoming stories.


At this point, you’re a vital force in our content creation process, and your editorial expertise is driving significant engagement and enhancing our digital presence across platforms. Your strategic vision and dynamic reporting are inspiring advancements and innovation in our news coverage.


Who you’ll be working with?

You will join our marketing and communications team as the research lead, and you’ll also work closely with our CEO to identify new thought leadership topics.


You will also liaise with our Business Intelligence department and other department heads to gather data and insights that can be valuable for your research.


We expect you to:

  • Have experience in journalistic writing and editing, particularly long-form journalism 
  • Have experience conducting market research, comparative analysis, and fact-checking
  • Have strong investigative and written communication skills
  • Be inherently curious and always ready to dig deeper into questions and seek answers
  • Show strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Be a motivated self-starter
  • Demonstrate time management skills and the ability to work efficiently
  • Be a strong team player with a warm, friendly personality
  • Be boldly creative and able to think outside of the box
  • Speak and write native-level English


Nice to have:

  • Experience with B2B SaaS 
  • Background in ecommerce and product information management
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress and HubSpot)
  • Be willing to relocate to Malaga, Spain
  • Be a fan of the Oxford comma
